DESCRIPTION:
AT-PLAST 601 (I) is a super-plasticising cum set retarding synthetic dispersion; offering high retardation effect. AT-PLAST 601 (I) is based upon the latest polycarboxylate chemistry. Also suitable for; producing free flowing concrete in hot climatic conditions. TECHNOLOGY: AT-PLAST 601 (I) is a specially designed polycarboxylate ether-based super-plasticiser to achieve significantly enhanced slump retention without additional retardation and subsequent early strength development. The special polymers consist of backbones with carboxyl groups and side chains. The first component – backbone with carboxyl groups – is responsible for water reduction, initial slump and mixing time respectively. The second one – side chains – determines the slump keeping capability of the super-plasticiser, affected by an increasing number of side chains. AT-PLAST 601 (I) can adapt to the mixed concrete at various situations e.g. environmental conditions, changing distances to the jobsite and still maintaining the required consistency. The initial setting of the concrete is only extended by the additional workability time gained by the usage of AT-PLAST 601 (I).
STANDARDS:
Complies to ASTM C 494 : Type G and BS 5075 : Part 1
USES:
AT-PLAST 601 (I) is used as a superplasticiser to produce flowing concrete in:
- For structures where water reduction with extended workability is of prime importance
- Spray able concrete / shotcrete for tunneling
- Pre-cast concrete manufacturing – due to strength development characteristics the elimination or reduction of steam curing in precast works may be considered as an economical option
- Micro silica concrete and where improved surface finish is required
- Ready mix concrete
- Long distance transportation
- In hot weather to extend workability
- Self compacting concrete
ADVANTAGES:
- Reduction of 25% water contents whilst maintain workability, durability & impermeability
- Increased flexural strength
- Higher E modulus
- Improved adhesion to reinforcing and stressing steel
- Better resistance to carbonation
- Lower permeability
- Better resistance to aggressive atmospheric conditions
- Reduced shrinkage and creep
- Increased durability
- Increases early & ultimate compressive strength and other strength developing properties
- Effects economies of concrete mix thereby saving cement
- Compatible with all type of cement including sulphate resisting
- Improves pump-ability of the material
- Improves cohesive properties of concrete to reduce segregation & bleeding
- Reduce the placing problems in hot weather concrete
- Improve trowel ability & surface finish
DOSAGE:
- 0.7% – 1.1% for 100 kg cement. Exact dosage rates are dependent on the type of effect & retardation sought, quality of cement & aggregates, W/C ratio and ambient temperature. Actual dosage to be finalised on the basis of site trials.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
- SETTING TIME:
- AT-PLAST 601 (I) ensures that rheoplastic concrete remains workable in excess of 3 hours at +20°C. Workability loss is dependent on temperature, and on the type of cement, the nature of aggregates, the method of transport and initial workability. It is strongly recommended that concrete should be properly cured particularly in hot and dry climates.
- COMPATABILITY:
- AT-PLAST 601 (I) is compatible with all types of cement complying with international standards. It can be used in combination with the following admixtures and additives:
- Air entraining admixtures
- Anti freezing admixture
- Pozzolanz ( Micro Silica, Flyash, GGBFS)
- Synthetic fibers
- Alkali silica reaction control admixture
- Waterproofing admixture
- EFFECT OF OVER DOSAGE:
- Retardation of initial set
- Increase in air contents
- Increase in workability
- MIXING:
- AT-PLAST 601 (I) should be added to the gauging water or simultaneously to be poured into mixer. Never add AT-PLAST 601 (I) to the dry cement. For optimum utilization of the high water reduction we recommend thorough mixing at a minimal wet mixing time of 60 seconds. The addition of the remaining gauging water to fine-tune the concrete consistency – may only be started after 2/3 minutes of the wet mixing time to, to avoid surplus water in the concrete.
- CURING:
- Fresh poured concrete must be cured properly, particularly at high temperatures in order to prevent plastic and drying shrinkages and cracks. Use of ADO Curing Compounds recommended for achieving best results. Conventional method of wet hessian is also applicable.
