DESCRIPTION:
AT-JOINTSEAL (PS) is a two component Polysulphide based sealant. It consists of a ‘Base’ compound and an ‘Accelerator’ (Curing Agent). When the two components are mixed together prior to application, a chemical reaction is initiated which forms instantly to a firm, flexible rubber like seal with excellent adhesion to concrete, masonry, wood, glass, acrylic and PVC plastics. It is suitable for use in the construction sector on all joints where above average repeated movement is encountered over a wide temperature range. It provides outstanding resistance to weathering and chemical attack from solvent, alkalis, dilute acids, oils and grease. AT-JOINTSEAL (PS) cures relatively slowly, therefore applications must be restricted to those areas where little movement will occur before full cure has been achieved. It will be applicable particularly where joints could be subject to foot or wheeled traffic and hydrostatic pressure.
USES:
- AT-JOINTSEAL (PS) is highly effective for:
- Sealing around door and window frames, particularly those which have been painted with micro-porous coatings
- Joints between external cladding panels
- Sealing around tiles, mosaics, granite and similar materials
- Vertical and horizontal expansion joints
ADVANTAGES:
- AT-JOINTSEAL (PS) is a two component polysulphide sealant for expansion joints has the following key benefits:
- Conforms with BS 5215
- Durable – weather resistant and high flexibility ensure low maintenance requirements
- Chemical Resistance – excellent resistance to a wide range of chemicals
- Slip Resistant (non-sag) can be applied to both vertical & ceiling joints
- Self Leveling after pouring in horizontal joint(s) AT-JOINTSEAL (PS) levels itself
COVERAGE:
- To estimate the number of running meter of work done by 1 kg of AT-JOINTSEAL (PS) can be easily estimated by using the following formula :
L= 650/W X D
L = Length of the joint in linear running meter W= Width of the joint in mm D = Depth of the joint in mm
USAGE METHOD:
- The joint surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dirt, frost, grease, rust and protective lacquers and coatings. Remove dirt and loose materials by rigorous wire brushing, porous surfaces should be primed with Primer and allowed to dry before application of AT-JOINTSEAL (PS) (Masking tape may be used to keep the joint neat and clean prior to priming). Extrude the sealant firmly into the joint tooling may be carried out with a wetted pointing tool.
- Joint size width should not exceed 25 mm and depth should not exceed 15 mm, or be less than 6 mm. To provide optimum joint dimensions a bond breaker or back-up foam should be inserted in the joint, this will also prevent the sealant adhering to the base of the joint.
- Tools may be cleaned before the sealant cures using ethanol.
