COATING FOR ROOFS & EXTERIOR SURFACE

Description: AT-RAINSHIELDis an elastomeric waterproof, antifungal, odour-free coating that provides a tough,smooth and excellent crack bridging ability that can accommodate movements& other harmful effects due to thermal& seasonal variations.

STANDARDS:  AT-RAINSHIELDconforms toASTM D 412 : 2002, ASTM D 4541 : 2002, ASTM C 836: 1995, DIN 1048 Part 5&  ASTM D471

USES:

• Building Roofs / Terraces.
• Concrete screeds, acrylic coatings, sound brick-bat coba, lime terracing etc.
• All types of exterior masonry surfaces, concrete, cement sand renderings, etc.

INSTRUCTION FOR USE:

Surface Preparation – Roof

• Prepare the concrete mother surface thoroughly by cleaning, washing and removing dust, dirt, oil, grease and loose particles by means of wire brush or any other mechanical methods.
• In existing old terraces such as brick-bat-coba or screeds, the substrate must be checked for its soundness.Damaged or hollow portions, sharp edges, etc. must be cut and repaired with a polymer-modified mortar using AT-CRETE LATEX.
• All surface cracks up to 5 mm width should be filled up.
• Bitumen based waterproofing treatments must be completely removed by mechanical scarification or by any other suitable mechanical means.

Surface Preparations – Exterior Surface

• All new cement-sand renderings/Plaster /concrete surfaces should be allowed to age 4 to 5 weeks before surfacecoatings.
• Surface for treatment must be thoroughly cleaned of all laitance, loose material, oil, grease, etc. by mechanicalmeans such as wire brushing & shot blasting. Finally vacuum cleaning of all loose solids and liquids can be done,if required.
• All surface cracks up to 5 mm width should be filled up.

Cracks more than 5 mm and all separation gaps should be filled up with AT-CRETE LATEX modified mortar

Application Procedure for Roof (New & Repair):

• Apply one coat of AT-RAINSHIELD (diluted with water in the ratio 2 : 1) at the rate of 7 to 9 sqm./ Kg.Allow it to dry for 2-3 hours.
• Apply the first coatAT-RAINSHIELD at the rate of 2 to 2.2 sqmt / Kg / coat and allow it to dry beforetaking up the second coat, the rate of application being the same. This would ensure correct consumption ofmaterial that will deliver a total DFT of 500 – 600 micron.
• Minimum drying time between coats will be 4 to 6 hours.
• Allow the system to air cure for 7 days minimum.
• For Additional protection use Fibre mesh (minimum 40 gsm) after 1st coat of undilutedAT-RAINSHIELDforadditional re-enforcement or apply 3rd coat of undiluted AT-RAINSHIELD.

Application Procedure for Exterior Surface (New Construction):

• Apply one coat ofAT-RAINSHIELD (diluted with water in the ratio 2 : 1) at the rate of 7.5 to 9 sqmtr / ltr.Allow it to dry for 2-3 hours.
• Apply 1 coat of AT-RAINSHIELD (Diluted 1 ltr with water upto 5%) and apply at the rate of 3.7 to 4 sqm /ltr. / per coat. DFT: 110- 115 microns
• Post application of single coat of AT-RAINSHIELD, apply suitable exterior paint as per desired colour.
• If external surface is required in white colour, apply 2 coats of AT-RAINSHIELD (Diluted 1 ltr with water upto10%) apply at the rate of 3.1 to 3.5 sqmtr per Kg. / 2 coats. DFT: 120- 125 microns.

Application Procedure for Exterior Surface (Repair/Repainting):

• Apply 1 coat of AT-RAINSHIELD (Diluted 1 ltr with water upto 5%) and apply at the rate of 3.7 to 4 sqm /ltr / per coat. DFT – 110 – 115 microns.

Precautions & Limitations: Roof

• All corners, gaps, joints, protrusions & outlets shall be coated with extra coat
• Do not apply during rains.
• Substrate MUST be in SSD condition for application of primer coat.
• The product is designed only for foot traffic and not meant for vehicular traffic. Not suitable for any machineryor equipment movement.
• To achieve the comprehensive waterproofing, all parapet walls should be covered with AT-RAINSHIELD
• All wall to floor joints must be provided with proper angle fillets prepared with polymer modified mortar using AT-CRETE LATEX.

Precautions & Limitations: Exterior Surface.

• Dilute as per recommendation.
• Apply as per recommended sqmtr area by forced coverage.
• Ensure proper surface preparation.
• Diluted material to be consume on the same day.

CLEANING

• Clean all tools and equipments immediately after use with water.

Coverage

• Self-priming: Coverage 7.5-9 sqm per ltr / per coat. (Dilution 50%).
• 2 coats for Roof – Coverage 2 to 2.2 Sqmtr / ltr / per coat (No Dilution).
• Single coat Exterior Surface – Coverage 3.7 to 4 sqmtr / ltr / Per coat (Dilution 5%).
• Two coat Exterior Surface – Coverage 3.1 to 3.5 sqmtr per ltr / 2 coats (Dilution 10%).

*Coverage can vary depending on the porosity of the surface.

• Shelf life is 24 months in sealed containers as provided
• Protect AT-RAINSHIELDfrom direct sunlight
• Keep containers sealed and away from heat and cold in a well-ventilated area

HEALTH & SAFETY:

• Protect hands with rubber gloves and eyes with goggles.
• Accidental splashes to the skin or eyes must be rinsed immediately with clean water or boric acidsolution.
• Store in well-labelled containers.

PRECAUTION FOR USE: ADO Products are generally harmless, provided certain precautions are taken for handlingchemicals. Avoid contact with foodstuff and food utensils. Avoid prolonged skin contact. Wear protective clothing, usegloves, use barrier cream etc. In the event of contamination, wash thoroughly with water. If eye or mouth is affected,wash with clean water immediately and obtain professional medical attention.
