DESCRIPTION:
AT-PLAST (AF) is a brownish or yellowish liquid admixture suitable for addition to mass, stressed and reinforced concrete. It is available in liquid form. It protects the concrete up to -10⁰C to -12⁰C. AT-PLAST (AF) is effective with all types of OPC and SRC.
USES:
- AT-PLAST (AF) is extensively used for the production of high quality concrete at moderately low temperature. For concreting work in cold conditions, e.g. slight day time frost, expected overnight frost, expected cold period, when under normal conditions concreting work has to stop.
FEATURES:
- It is used as a plasticizer or water reducing compound
- Increased frost resistance
- Improved strength
- Chloride free
APPLICATION:
- AT PLAST (AF) in liquid form is mixed with concrete along with gauging water. Recommended dosage is 1-3% by weight of cement depending on the site conditions.
IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS:
- Form work and reinforcement has to be free from water, snow or ice. Wherever required pre-heat the same to at least 0⁰C
- All the form work must be designed to act as thermal insulation.
- The concrete should be protected from loss of heat by maintaining cover and insulation.
- If the admixture freezes in the drum, heat the same gradually in a heating environment.
- Avoid direct contact with flames.
- Use the minimum amount of water/cement ratio by taking full advantage of the water reducing capabilities of AT PLAST (AF).
- Minimum temperature of the concrete has to be 5⁰c
A few precautions must be followed even though AT PLAST (AF) is being used. The concrete and mortar is to be allowed for normal curing. Below 00 C setting of concrete is hampered. The role of AT PLAST (AF) is to protect concrete mix from the adverse effect of frost. It is to be made sure that the cement, sand, aggregates and water are above freezing point before mixing. The mixing should be proper and the admixture should be well dispersed in the green concrete.
DOSAGE:
- 1-3% by weight of cement
- Exact dosage rates are determined by site trials
